Beryl Bollig was born in rural Mapleton, Iowa, during a snowstorm to Tessie Lee Barr and Doc Barr on October 29, 1925. Beryl attended a country school, as well as Mapleton Public Schools, which she rode her pony to and from. She had a wonderful childhood, although the time was during the depression. She enjoyed riding ponies with her older brothers, playing ball, crochet, and bridge with their parents. Beryl married Bill Bollig in 1948 in Mapleton, IA. During the marriage they moved from Iowa to California. God, family & friends came first. She worked as a secretary and Legal Assistant until retirement. Family and friend gathering for playing cards, celebrations, board games brought her much joy. During her later years Beryl enjoyed reading, gardening, playing cards, enjoying family and friends, children and animals. She always offered a helping hand and a welcomed place at the table in her home. Beryl was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, husband, Son Kip, nephews Kim Virtue, Stanley Barr and by Essie, and Evelyn Stanley, plus many more relatives. Beryl is survived by daughters Terry Bollig, Shelley and her husband John Hill, and Son Craig Bollig; her precious grandchildren David Bollig, Brande Rippee, and Mark and wife Amber Bollig; great-grandchildren David and Travis Bollig, Kayla Wilson and Alexys Bollig; companion Rocky; special cousins Marjorie Bueoy and Shirley Virtue Barber hold a special place in her heart, as well as numerous other relatives and friends that made her life richer. Beryl Barr Bollig died May 24, 2016 in Eureka, CA. Memorial contributions can be made to Centerpointe Community Church or any agency helping children or animals. Not the Red Cross.
