Paul Lippincott A Former Railroad Man; Catholic Funeral Is Held

Ill with cancer for several years, Paul Lippincott of Blair died Friday morning at Veterans Hospital in Omaha, where he had been a patient for some time.

Native and for nearly his entire life a resident of Blair, Mr. Lippincott was born her Jan. 12, 1892, one of five children born to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas P. Lippincott. He attended the Blair schools.

For many years he was a railroad engineer, and later was employed for a time at the municipal light plant in Blair.

During World War I, Mr. Lippincott served in the U.S. Navy aboard the liner Leviathan, transporting troops to and from Europe.

The body was brought to the Bendorf Funeral Home, where the rosary was recited at 4 p.m. Sunday. Requiem High Mass was held at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church Monday at 9 a.m., the Rev. Edward C. O’Donnell officiating. Interment was in Blair Cemetery.

Surviving Mr. Lippincott are his wife, Viva, whose home is at Aurora, Nebr., one brother, M.R. (Ray) Lippincott of Blair, and one sister, Miss Lydia Lippincott, also of Blair. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Doris and Edna, the latter of whom died in childhood.

Paul Lippincott Buried Monday

Funeral services were held at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair Monday morning for Paul Lippincott, a native of Blair, who passed away Friday morning, July 16, at the Veterans’ Hospital in Omaha, where he had been a patient since the end of May. He had suffered from cancer for several years.

Paul Lippincott was born in Blair on January 12, 1892, and grew to manhood in this vicinity. He was an engineer of the Chicago Northwestern Railroad until his illness forced him to quit several years ago.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War I, and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Lippincott is survived by one sister, Miss Lydia Lippincott, and one brother, Mr. M.R. Lippincott, both of Blair. Two sisters preceded him in death.

Rev. Edward C. O’Donnell officiated at the last rites and Bendorf Funeral Home was in charge of interment in Blair Cemetery. Pall bearers were Howard Shanahan, Reed O’Hanlon Jr., Andrew Nielsen, Sam Haller, Fred Sass and Curtis Rathmann.
