Mrs. Nellie Rasmussen Hastings was born December 21, 1892, on a farm near Blair. She received her education in the public schools of the county, attended Dana College and Peru State Teachers College. She was a teacher in the Washington County Schools for a number of years.

She was married to Howard Hastings on April 26, 1916 and in 1927 the family moved to Isleton, California.

Mrs. Hastings passed away in a convalescent home in Pomona, California, on April 8, 1958. Funeral services were held at Rio Vista, California on Friday, April 11. Survivors include six daughters, two sons and twelve grandchildren, all residing in California. Also two sisters, Marie Rasmussen, of this city and Mrs. D. J. Hundalh of Dallas, Texas. Mr. Hastings died a year ago and a sister, Mrs. William L. Wood, passed away on April 2.
