William C. Hastings died at his farm home nine miles west of Blair at about 9 o’ clock this Wednesday morning. He went to Fremont yesterday with his daughter Irene, who remained at the hospital for a slight operation. Mrs. Hastings is in very poor health and was down at Ashland with her people so neither of them were present when Death found him. No arrangements for the funeral have as yet been made awaiting their return. Mrs. Hastings was born in Chicago, July 31, 1854 so was past 70 years of age. He came to this county with his parents in 1868, having lived two years at Florence. They settled on the farm where he died, which had been his home for 56 years. He was married to Miss Binna Hindricks in 1894 and their only child Irene, survives him, with the invalid wife. He has a brother in Oklahoma but his address is not known. Mr. Hastings was a member of the I.O.O.F lodge here and of Blair Oak Camp, W.O.W. No. 23, carrying a policy of $1000. The bereaved wife and daughter have the sincere sympathy of many friends.

W. C. HASTINGS DIES AT HOME NEAR ROSE HILL

W. C. Hastings, an old resident of the Rose Hill neighborhood, died yesterday morning, having been a sufferer from stomach trouble for many months. Mr. Hastings was born in Chicago on July 31, 1854, and came to Washington county with his parents in 1868. He was married in 1894 to Miss Binna Hendricks, and besides the widow leaves one daughter, Irene. Funeral services will be held at the Rose Hill church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock.
