Former Arlington resident Ethel M. Hayne, 91, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at Arlington Community Church. Interment will be in the Arlington Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Ethel M. Hayne was born Oct. 14, 1913, in Venus, Neb., to Leonard and Nancy (Conner) Herman. She graduated from O’Neill High School and attended Tabor College in Tabor, Iowa.

On June 11, 1939, she married Ralph R. Hayne in O’Neill. The family lived in the O’Neill area and in Fremont before moving to Arlington in 1951.

Mrs. Hayne worked at the Memorial Hospital of Dodge County, now known as the Fremont Area Medical Center, and at Campbell’s Soup Company, from which she retired. She was a member of the Arlington Community Church and was active in the Republication Party in Nebraska. She enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Shirley Hayne of Lincoln, and Lonnie and Gloria Hayne of Stoughton, Wis., daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ron Seuss of Flagstaff, Ariz.; two brothers and sister-in-law, Leonard Herman of Oregon and Lambert and Betty Herman of Indiana; three sisters, Pauline Hibbs of Boise, Idaho, Verna Knowles of Ireton, Iowa, and Mary Schmidt of North Platte; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 1981; two sisters and two brothers.

Memorials are suggested to the Arlington Community Church.
