MRS. CHAS. HAYNES OF BLAIR SUCCUMBS MONDAY AT AGE 73

LONG-TIME BLAIR RESIDENT BURIED YESTERDAY MORNING AFTER RITES

A long illness was fatal Monday morning to Mrs. Charles Haynes, 73, of east of Blair. The long-time Blair resident died at the home of her son, Verner.

As Olive Adelaide Morrill, she was born in Harrison County, Iowa, May 25, 1863, and lived there during her earlier years. She was married in Burt County, Nebraska, to Charles Haynes, January 4, 1881, and to them eight children were born. Six survive, as does Mr. Haynes. They are Mrs. Wilbur Noyes of Santa Barbara, California; Ray and Verner Haynes of Blair, Mrs. Jack Whittaker of Blair, Mrs. J. W. Thompson of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. M. L. Cameron, also of Los Angeles.

Death of Mrs. Haynes leaves only one of the original family living. She is Mrs. Watson Tyson of this city. A sister of Mrs. Haynes, and Mrs. Tyson, Mrs. Lettie Belleville of Los Angeles, died last May. Other relatives surviving Mrs. Haynes include sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Haynes was one of the earlier settlers in Washington County. Her father met his death September 19, 1888, when a steam boiler exploded at the Blair railroad bridge.

She was an active member of the Rebekah Lodge. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Campbellā€™s Mortuary, the Rev. Thomas J. Reese of the Baptist Church in charge. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

MRS. CHAS. HAYNES PASSES MONDAY

After a long illness Mrs. Chas. Haynes of Blair, passed away Monday, July 27, 1936 at the home of her son, Verner Haynes.

Olive Adelaide Morrill was born in Harrison county, Iowa May 25, 1863, and was thus 73 years, 2 months and 2 days old at her death.

She was married to Chas. Haynes in Burt county, Nebraska on January 8, 1881, and to them eight children were born, of whom six survive here: Mrs. Wilbur Noyes of Saint Bernadina, California; Ray and Verner Haynes of Blair; and Mrs. J. Whiteaker, also of Blair; and Mrs. J. W. Thompson of Los Angeles, California, who, with the bereaved husband, grieve deeply their great sorrow.

Last May a sister of the deceased, Mrs. Lettie Belleville of Los Angeles, passed on which leaves of her original family only one sister, Mrs. Watson Tyson, still living. Other living relatives are sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Mrs. Haynes dates back to the earlier settlers of the county. Her father met his death at the Blair bridge on September 19, 1888 by an explosion of a steam boiler.

She was a member of the Rebekah lodge, and was faithful to her obligations to that order. She was a real wife and mother, and her memory will live long in the memories of her family and her wide circle of friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. from the Campbell mortuary with Rev. T. J. Reese officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
