Services for Frank B. Hays, 79 who died February 11, 1992 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair were Friday, February 14 at Casey-Witzenburg Chapel in Auburn, Nebraska. Rev. Frank Zimmerman officiated. Burial was in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Peru, Nebraska.

Frank B. Hays, son of James Arthur and Mary Simmons Hays was born on a farm near Peru, November 18, 1912. He was one of nine children. He received his early education at Honey Creek rural school and then attended Peru High School.

He farmed near Peru until 1949. He then worked at Peru State College until his retirement. He continued to live in Peru until 1986 at which time he moved to Fort Calhoun, Nebraska. He entered Crowell Memorial Home in Blair in December, 1991.

He was a member of the Peru Christian Church for most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Nevada Kipling and Amanda Gamble and four brothers, John, Arthur, Orville and June.

He is survived by two daughters, Gwendolyn Vaughn of Auburn and Christie Meyer of Fort Calhoun; two sister, Gladys Moody of Omaha and Lola Mertes of Peru; one grandson, Gary Vaughn of Logan, Iowa; four granddaughters, Shari Teten of Auburn, Ann Devney of Omaha, Karey Meyer of Fort Calhoun and Wendy Meyer of Fort Calhoun; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew Vaughn of Peru, Joe, Sara and Kellie Vaughn of St. Joseph, Missouri; Aaron and Jordan Devney of Omaha and Nathan Teten of Auburn; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers were Robert Moody, Raymond Moody, Jerry Moody, Ron Mertes, Don Mertes and Fred Hardy.

Casey-Witzenburg Funeral Home in Auburn was in charge of arrangements.
