George Reeh Dies Under New Tractor

Well Known Farmer Is Crushed When Tractor Slides On Hill

WAS DIRECTOR OF GARDNER SCHOOL

George Reeh, well known farmer of the Gardner school district, was killed last Thursday afternoon when pinned under an overturned tractor.

The exact manner to which he met his death has not been determined. Mr. Reeh was operating a new tractor and was hauling fertilizer onto a field on his farm. He apparently turned the tractor up a hill too sharply or the tractor skidded sideways on some ice causing it to overturn.

Accompanying Mr. Reeh at the time of the accident was his son, Richard, who jumped to safety when the tractor began to overturn. His father, however, was caught beneath the steering mechanism and was unable to free himself from the heavy machine.

Deceased was born January *20,1898 on a farm south of Blair, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Reeh. He attended the Gardner school district and later took a business course.

On September 20th, 1930 he was united in marriage to Zelda Miller and to this union three children were born, Imogene, Richard and Arlene.

He was a successful farmer, which had been his life work. He was also interested in civic affairs being a director of the Gardner school district and treasurer of the local Community Club and a member of the Baptist Church.

During the flu epidemic of 1918 his father and a brother were victims of the dread disease. Those left to mourn him are his wife and three children; his mother, Mrs. Sophie Reeh; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Oye of Arthur, Ill., and Mrs. Dora Wulf of Blair and two brothers, Rudolph of Decatur, Ill., and Alfred of Omaha besides many other relatives and friends.

Funeral rites were held Sunday, January 22nd, at 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church in Blair with Rev. D. D. Kennedy officiating and interment was made in the Blair cemetery under the supervision of the Bendorf Funeral Home.

*Gravestone says he was born on 1-26-1898
