Leslie H. Hilgenkamp, 85

Arlington native Leslie H. Hilgenkamp, 85, of rural Colon, died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at the Fremont Area Medical Center.

The funeral service was Monday, March 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fremont. Interment was at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery north of Arlington.

Leslie H. Hilgenkamp was born Oct. 20, 1923, on the farm near Arlington to William and Ida (Ahlemeyer) Hilgenkamp. He spent his childhood years in the Arlington area, where he attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and Church.

On Aug. 1, 1948, he married LaVerne M. Carlson in _______Church in rural Colon. Following his marriage, he farmed in that area near Colon all of his working years.

Mr. Hilgenkamp had been active in 4-H programs and had served on the board of school District 82. He had also been a member of the Saunders County Pork Producers, and he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Fremont.

He is survived by his wife, LaVerne; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Linda Hilgenkamp of Searcy, Ark., and Dave and Andrea Hilgenkamp of Colon; four grandsons; a sister, Ethellean Barth of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Ludvigsen Mortuary was in charge of the services.
