Delrae Eaton, 74

Delrae Eaton, 74 years, of North Bend, NE died Friday, June 10, 2016, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE. Delrae was born April 30, 1942, in North Bend to Gerald and Ruth (Napier) Eaton.

He grew up in North Bend and was a 1960 graduate of North Bend High School. Delrae married Janice Eckstein on April 29, 1961, at United Presbyterian Church in North Bend. He worked at Blevins Popcorn Plant in North Bend for a couple years and then began his career at Hormel in Fremont for 49-plus years. He retired on July 18, 2011.

Delrae was a member of the North Bend Volunteer Fire Department, served on the North Bend Elementary School Board and belonged to the Jaycees. In his earlier years, he played Legion Baseball and town team baseball, and was a member of the over 40 “Babe’s Bar” softball team. He enjoyed bowling, which he did for 58 years. He loved deer and duck hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed going to Minnesota fishing with his wife and their fishing buddies for the past forty years. His greatest joy in life was being able to attend his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events and school activities.

He is survived by wife, Jan; sons, Rick (Traci) Eaton of Denver, Co., Dan (Kelli) Eaton of Blair, NE, Steve (Kelly) Eaton of Omaha, NE; daughters, Sherry (Chris) Emanuel of North Bend, NE and Shelley Friesz of North Bend, NE; brother-in-law, Arlie Eckstein of Linwood, NE; 17 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Eaton.

Memorial Service will be 11 A.M. Thursday, June 16, 2016, at United Presbyterian Church in North Bend. Pastor Michael Hill will officiate. Memorial visitation with family receiving friends will be Wednesday from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the church (940 Chestnut Street, North Bend, NE 68649).
