Bob Taylor, 76, died Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Fremont Area Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at the Fremont Alliance Church. Interment will be at Fremont’s Ridge Cemetery.

Open casket visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, March 28 , at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home, and closed casket visitation with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services on Tuesday.

Bob Taylor was born June 21, 1934, in Blair to John and Meta (Hansen) Taylor.

On April 25, 1953, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Beck of Blair, in Fremont.

He farmed his entire life, spending the last 49 years on the family farm located just east of Fremont. He served his community in countless ways. He was a member of the Dodge County Planning and Zoning Commission for more than 35 years and also served on the school board for District 37 for 20 years. He was a member of the Fremont Alliance Church where he attended for nearly 60 years, and served as a deacon, taught Sunday School, and worked with youth ministries. He spent a full life doing the things he loved, which included skiing, racing cars and motorcycles, and playing softball. But what he loved most was spending time with his family. Whether it was a family gathering, a school program, or a ballgame, as a dad or grandpa, he was always around.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Darylene Taylor of Lincoln and Eric and Kim Taylor of Fremont; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Taylor of Healdsburg, Calif., Terri and John Steyer and Julie and Donn Shaffer, all of Omaha; 14 grandchildren, Jessica, Chad, Adam, Megan, Luke, Chris, Allison, Dylan, Ethan, Alex, Jason, Ellie, Braden and Layla; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Olivia; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Pat Taylor Jr. of Fremont, Tom Taylor of Omaha, Tim and Debbie Taylor of Princeton, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Gary Chubb of Dallas, Texas, Mary and Chuck Barrett of Highland Ranch, Colo., and Marie Cameron of Boise, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert E. Taylor, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Open Door Mission in Omaha or the Fremont Alliance Church.

Bob Taylor’s life was dedicated to serving God and his family and the Lord called Bob to be by his side on March 25, 2011, at Fremont Area Medical Center.

Born to John and Meta (Hansen) Taylor on June 21, 1934, in Blair, Bob Taylor began a 76-year journey that touched many lives along the way.

He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Beck of Blair, on April 25, 1953, in Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Robert E. “Rob” Taylor Jr.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fremont Alliance Church with the Rev. Tom Nevius officiating. There will be open casket visitation from 3 – 6 p.m. today at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. There will be closed casket visitation with family present from 6 – 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Closed casket visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Fremont.
