RICHARD J. LIPPINCOTT, 94

Richard J. Lippincott, 94, of Blair, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at Carter House in Blair.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at the First United Methodist Church in Blair.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

Richard “Dick” Joshua Lippincott was born on Friday, Sept. 13, 1912 at the farm home of his parents, Ephraim Coles and Emma Catherina (Schmidt) Lippincott. He thus became a member of the ninth generation of the Lippincott family in America and was named after the family’s first immigrant to America, Richard Lippincott.

His early education was at Pleasant View School, a two-room, 10-grade country school. He graduated from Blair High School in 1930, and then attended a Farm Operators Short Course at the University of Nebraska College of Agriculture. He farmed the family’s farm and was a strong supporter of the First United Methodist Church, the Grange, the Washington County Recycling Center, and other community groups.

In 1937, he married Ruth Louise Flynn. She survives him, as do his three children and their spouses, Susan and Kurt Halverson, Jim and Darrylin Lippincott, and mary and Greg Busby; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Don; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Viva Guyer and Ruth M. Lippincott; and a brother, Clark Lippincott.
