DR. LOUIS HEGER DIES AT HOME IN DES MOINES

Dr. Louis F. Hager, a former resident of Washington and Douglas Counties, died at his home in Des Moines, Iowa, on February 23, 1978. He was 53 years of age.

Dr. Heger was a Professor in the College of Education at Drake University in Des Moines, and was director of federal grants at the time of his death. He began his career in education by teaching at Elk City and West Point, then served in the Beatrice and Westside Schools before joining the staff of Drake University.

He was marred to Verda Andersen of Blair.

He is survived by his wife, their three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Maurya) Schmeizel and Mrs. Robert (Roxann) Sauerman, of Des Moines; and Amy Heger, of Los Angeles, California; by his mother, Mrs. Ann Heger, and one brother, Deryle Heger of Millard; and by one sister, Mrs. Chester (Lavonne) Auch, of Bennington.

Services were held Saturday February 25, at Grace Lutheran Church in Des Moines and Sunday February 26th at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington. Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery, south of Kennard.

Pallbearers were his nephews, Robert and D. William Heger, Londo Auch, and Wayne, Marvin and Wesley Andersen
