Services for Minnie A. Heikes, 100, of Blair, Nebraska who died at Crowell Memorial Home May 30, 1991 were Monday, June 3 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wayne, Nebraska with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery at Wayne. A prayer service was held Sunday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

Minnie Augusta Bartels Heikes was born on December 20, 1890 near Hubbard, Nebraska to Fred and Rica Ostmeyer Bartels. She was the eldest of eleven children.

She was baptized on April 19, 1891 and confirmed in May, 1904 at Salem Lutheran Church in Dakota County. She attended school in Dakota County and Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.

She married Charles Heikes January 20, 1910 at Hubbard, Nebraska. They farmed in Dakota County until moving to a farm near Wayne in 1915. They continued to farm near Wayne until they moved into Wayne in 1951.

She was employed at the Wayne Care Center for a number of years before her retirement. She moved to Blair in October, 1980 and moved to the Crowell Home in 1990.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; two sons, Stanley and Everett; four brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by three daughters, Evelyn Wamberg Brazil, Iona (Mrs. Lyle) Stern and Rayoma (Mrs. Kermit) Andrews, all of Blair; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Violet Heikes, Cornelius, Oregon; a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Camilla Bartels, Hubbard; brother, Ollie Bartels, Dakota City, Nebraska; sister, Gertrude Heffernan, South Sioux City, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Emery Foreshoe, South Sioux City, Nebraska and sisters-in-law, Marie Bartels, South Sioux City and Hazel Reiferbark, Blue River, Oregon.

Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church, Blair or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wayne, Nebraska.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
