GEORGE H. HEINSSEN DIED AT HIS FARM HOME SATURDAY

George Henry Heinssen was born October 3, 1902, in Cadenberg, Germany, the son of Peter Heinrich Heinssen and Metta Magalena Mahler. He died September 25, 1976, at his home in Blair, Nebraska at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 22 days.

He was baptized into the Lutheran faith on October 19, 1902, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith April 5, 1917, both in the Lutheran Church of Cadenberg.

As a youth in Germany, he worked on the railroad and on farms. In 1922 he came to the United States, coming to Nebraska where he worked on farms in Dodge and Washington counties. He lived 40 years on his farm north of Blair. He was of the old school, deeply devoted to his family and firmly believing that “work is the mission of mankind on earth”. And although he never enjoyed good health, he fulfilled that mission until the very end.

He was married to Dorothy Grabbe on October 5, 1930, at the Grabbe home near Spiker. They had two children, Mary Faith (Mrs. Stanley Hansen) of George, Iowa and Fredrick of Blair.

Surviving besides his wife and daughter and son are five grandchildren: Deborah and Freddie Heinssen and Ted, George and Dolly Hansen; two brothers, John of Blair and Gerhard of Cadenberg, Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

Burial was held in the Blair Cemetery following the service.

May God comfort the bereaved and may the good he has done in life live on to bless his memory.

Funeral services were held at First Lutheran Church in Blair on Tuesday, September 28th. The Rev. Robert Albers and Rev. John Petersen conducted the service. Burial under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary was made in the Blair Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Milo Jeppesen, Fritz Effken, Ned Tyson, Jack Petersen, Steve Olsen and George Wood, Sr.
