The Rev. Douglas Darnold officiated at the 11 a.m. service. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

In December, 1967, they retired from the farm on which he had lived for 63 years to a new home in Blair, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Wilhelmina Johansen.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude, daughter Claire Ann Sprick of Raytown, Missouri and a son, Marvin Heise of Bennington.
