Services for Donald D. Hember, 62 of Blair and formerly of Grand Island who died July 26, 1994 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair were Friday, July 29 at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island, Rev. Kay Alnor-Moyer officiated. He was cremated with the burial of the ashes at a later date.

Donald E. Hember was born September 19, 1931 in Albion to Dr. Ivan C. and Doris Stillinger Hember. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1949.

In the early 1960’s he was very involved in youth baseball, managing the Grand Island Junior League Baseball Team and taking it to the Little World Series in 1963 and 1964 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He most recently worked as an inspector at the Omaha Stockyards.

He was preceded in death by his mother; one sister, Maxine Morgan and one granddaughter, Starla Danelle Hember.

He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Donald of Watertown, Wisconsin; Jod and Karen of Blair; Todd and Lisa Rodd and Brenda, all of Missouri Valley, Iowa; two daughters and son-in-law, Diane Hember of Phoenix, Arizona and Dawn and John Ford of Modale, Iowa; his father and step-mother, Dr. Ivan and Arline Hember of Grand Island; one brother, John of Cherokee, Iowa; three sisters, July Klinger of Cassville, Missouri; Kay Stuefer of Jefferson City, Missouri and Katie Vice of Shubert, Nebraska and grandchildren, Zachary Hember, Jarodd Hember, Ryan Baber, Rachel Hember, Dain Hember, Austin Ford and Dylan Ford.

Memorials are suggested to the Grand Island American Legion Junior Baseball program.
