2 May, 1940 - The Enterprise FORMER COUNTIAN DIED SATURDAY William J. McCann of Omaha passed away last Saturday at the age of 72 years. He was born in Washington County, Virginia, on January 29, 1868, and in 1872, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac McCann came to this county where he grew to manhood.

He farmed in the neighborhood of Kennard for a number of years and after the death of his first wife, he gave up farming and moved to Blair. He remarried and again took up farming and sixteen years ago moved to Omaha where he had since made his home.

Surviving him are his wife and three daughters, Mrs. J. C. Watts of Billings, Montana; Florence at home; Mrs. Kenneth Buckman of Omaha, who mourn the death of a loving husband and father.

Three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Rosenbaum of Kennard; Mrs. Sam Demaree of Scottsbluffs, Nebraska; and Mrs. Dell Whorlow of Wayne, Nebraska, and one brother, Henry B. McCann of Calumet, Oklahoma, also survive.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Omaha and at 2:00 p.m. in Kennard and interment was made in the Kennard Cemetery.
