LOIS LOEWE

(picture) Lois L. Loewe, 80, of Fremont, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Lois was born March 21, 1930 in Osmond to Raymond and Louise (Lage) Langemeier. She was raised in the Wayne area on the farm. She was a graduate of Wayne High School.

She married Donald W. Nielsen and they had five sons, and were later divorced. Lois married Gary L. Loewe on Nov. 19, 1977. They lived briefly in Arlington, then moved to Fremont.

Lois had worked for the Ford Café in Valley and Marion’s Villa in Fremont. Then she worked for the Pendleton Woolen Mills in Fremont for several years before retiring in 1992. She had been very active in Pendleton’s union and in the Democratic political party. Following her retirement, she and Gary had spent several winters in Texas where they made many new friends.

Survivors include five sons, Todd (and wife Lori) Nielsen of Fremont; Mick (and wife Lisa) Nielsen of Blair; Kelly (and wife Barb) Nielsen of Denver, Colo.; Steve Nielsen (and fiancée Alice) of Neosha, Wis.; and Lee Nielsen of San Diego; stepdaughter, Lynda Field (and husband Tim) of Pensacola, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack (and wife Maryann) Langemeier of Pea Ridge, Ark.; niece, Jodi; and nephew, Jay.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, in August 2007, and by two siblings in infancy.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont with the Rev. Timothy Gierke officiating. A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. There is no public visitation; however, friends may sign the register book until 5 p.m. today at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont.
