REV. STINUS LOFT TO BE BURIED IN HASTINGS

The Reverend S. S. Loft passed away Monday, March 16th, at Hastings, Nebr., following two major operations. The funeral arrangements will be held Wednesday at Hastings. The Reverend Loft died on his birthday, March 16, and was 83 years of age. The Rev. Loft was retired but he and his wife were active church workers. Mrs. Loft was supervisor of a rest home in Good Samaritan Village at Hastings, in which there were more than 50 elderly people. Rev. Loft gave weekly sermons to the residents of the home until his illness prevented it.

He leaves a wife, Martha (Hansen) Loft and four children. A son, Soren Loft of California; two daughters, Myrtle and Dorothy of California; and a daughter Karen, who is overseas. Mrs. Loft is a sister of Mrs. Dan Greeno, Grace Hansen, and N. J. (Tony) Hansen, all of Blair.

BLAIRITES ATTEND SERVICES FOR REV. STINUS S. LOFT

A number of friends and relatives of the late Rev. Stinus Loft attended services for him at Hastings, Nebraska, March 18th. He died at Hastings March 16th.

Rev. Stinus S. Loft was born in Egtved, Denmark March 16th, 1881 and death came on his 83 birthday. He grew to manhood in Denmark and came to America in 1903, coming to Blair shortly after arriving in America. He attended Dana College, 1905 to 1909, going later to Midland College at Fremont, where he graduated in 1912. After teaching for a time he decided to study theology which he did at Western Lutheran Seminary in Fremont. He was ordained for the ministry in Blair in June, 1926 by the late Dr. N. C. Carlsen.

As a minister he served parishes at Kennard; in Canada; Salt Lake City; Fresno and Ferndale, California; Scranton, Iowa; Viborg, South Dakota; and at Underwood, Iowa. For a number of years, Rev. and Mrs. Loft have lived in the retirement home, “Good Samaritan Village” in Hastings, where about 500 elderly persons lived. At the home he carried on his work as a pastor, comforting and encouraging those with whom he lived.

Death came Monday, March 16th. Funeral services were conducted at Hastings by the Rev. Wm. Goldbeck, manager of the Home and the Rev. Theodore M. Hansen, a former resident of Dana College.

Attending the services from Blair were the Rev. and Mrs. P.C. Jensen, Rev. and Mrs. A. V. Neve, Mrs. C.B. Larsen, Mrs. Lillian Johansen and Mrs. W. Petersen.
