He was born in Fremont, Nebraska on June 17, 1941, to John and Esther (Hoffman) Royuk. He was baptized and confirmed in his Christian faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School, Arlington, Nebraska. He attended Concordia Lutheran High School and Concordia Teacher’s College, Seward, Nebraska. He spent his life as a teacher and administrator in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod school system.

He met his life’s partner, Elaine Hummel of Fairbury, Nebraska in sophomore biology class at Concordia Lutheran High, and they began dating on Valentine’s Day of their senior year and enjoyed many and varied high school and college sports and activities. They married at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Daykin, Nebraska on July 27, 1963. God blessed them with three children: Brent (Sandra) of Seward, Nebraska; Brad of Baltimore, Maryland; and Beth (Harold) Pester of Seward, Nebraska. All three and their spouses are part of the Concordia University legacy having graduated from Concordia University and entered the teaching vocation.

Surviving Ron are his wife, Elaine; all three children and their spouses; 6 grandchildren: Rachel, Alicia, Daniel, & Anna Royuk and Tara & Tim Pester; two sisters, Beverly Greunke of Arlington, Nebraska and Linda (Paul) Staros of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Marlys Smith of Overland Park, Kansas. Celebrating Ron’s life are also many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Ron loved people and relationships. Each place he and Elaine lived, and he served in Lutheran schools, he enjoyed meeting and making new friends. Ron and Elaine’s ministry took them to Cleveland, Ohio; Knoxville, Tennessee; Houston, Texas; Fairmont/Northrop, Minnesota; and then retiring after serving in New Orleans, Louisiana, experiencing Hurricane Katrina.

Through his career, he was always active and held offices in the Lutheran Education Association (LEA); served on the Board for Parish Services for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod; and was awarded the Church Worker Alumnus of the Year Award for Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska.

His faith in Jesus Christ was evident in his life with family, work and friends. His passion was Lutheran Christian Education and his hobby was music. He served various churches as organist for more than 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dick, and wife, Gloria; Brothers-in-law, Lowell Hummel, Lyle Greunke and Jim Smith; plus many other friends and relatives called by our Savior.
