Clifford William Sorensen Loft of Omaha, died Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 29, at First Lutheran Church in Blair.

Clifford Loft was born November 17, 1915, to Marius and Meta (Petersen) Loft in Omaha.

He was baptized on April 2, 1916 at Bethany Lutheran Church at Kimballton, Iowa and was confirmed on April 13, 1930 at Pella Lutheran Church in Omaha.

He attended Lake School Elementary in Omaha and graduated from Tech High in 1933.

After graduation, he worked for Hinky Dinky and was promoted to store manager at the Benson store.

He enlisted in the armed forces January 8, 1942 at Ft. Crook in Omaha. He received his basic training at Ft. Warren, Wyo. He was stationed at Whitehorse Yukon Territory Quartermaster Corp. when the Alcon Hiway was built.

On October 19, 1945, he was honorably discharged from the Armed Services at Camp McCoy, Wis.

On May 2, 1943, he married Clara Jensen at Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. After discharge, he and his wife returned to Omaha and to Hinky Dinky stores where he was promoted to office manager until he left in 1957.

In November 1958, he began working for the U.S. Postal Service as letter carrier. He retired in 1980.

He is survived by his wife Clara; son and daughter-in-law John D. and Kathryn K. Loft of Chicago; brother, Harry Loft of Omaha; sister, Martha L. Tallman of Omaha; four nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Richard Curtis Loft.
