MRS. CALEB LOFTIS DIES IN OMAHA

Mrs. Caleb Loftis, who has resided in Blair for a number of years, died in an Omaha hospital on February 15, 1944 at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 28 days.

Deceased was born in Mohawk, Green County, Tennessee on March 18, 1871. She grew to womanhood in Tennessee and was married there to Thomas E. Ozement. The couple went to Paris, Texas where they resided for a number of years, and then moved to Whiting, Iowa where the husband died.

After her husband’s death, Mrs. Ozement came to Blair where she found work, and here she met Caleb Loftis to whom she was married in 1916. Mrs. Loftis died in 1934, but she continued to make Blair her home.

In her younger years she became affiliated with the Methodist church, and she gave much time to church work, and was especially interested in developing the Crowell Memorial Home.

The following relatives survive: Sisters - Mrs W. O. Kite, McKinney, Texas; Mrs. R. L. Hare, Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Arlone Courtney, Onawa, Iowa; brothers - C. G. Ingle, Chicasha, Oklahoma; C. W. Ingle, Hobart, Oklahoma. Ten nieces and six nephews also survive.

Two brothers, Robert of Mohawk, Tennessee and Henry of Gainesville, Texas and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah C. Dyer, Whiting, Iowa and Josie Manis, Mohawk, Tennessee preceded her in death.

Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, at the Methodist church at one o’clock with Rev. John P. Brooks officiating, and interment under the auspices of C. K. Bendorf will be made at Whiting, Iowa.

MRS. LOFTIS DEAD AT 72

ACTIVE IN CHURCH WORK MANY YEARS, BLAIRITE DIED AFTER OPERATION

Mrs. Cora Ingle Loftis, Blair, widow of the late Caleb Loftis and a prominent figure for many years in Methodist church and Crowell Home affairs, died in an Omaha hospital Tuesday, as they result of a major operation. She was 72 years old at the time of her death.

Funeral rites were held at the First Methodist church at 1 p.m., today, the Rev. John P. Brooks officiating. Burial was at Whiting, Ia., with Bendorf Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Born in Mohawk, Green County, Tenn., on March 16, 1871, Mrs. Loftis grew to womanhood in Tennessee. She was married to Thomas E. Ozement at the age of 21, the couple residing in Paris, Tex., and later in Whiting, Ia. Following Mr. Ozement’s death in 1914, she found work in Blair.

Her marriage to Caleb Loftis was solemnized June 24, 1916.

Mrs. Loftis, with her late husband whose death occurred on Nov. 30, 1934, was active in the affairs of Blair’s First Methodist church. She also took part in development of a room at Crowell Memorial Home.

Surviving relatives include three sisters, Mrs. W.O. Kile, McKinney, Texas; Mrs. R. L. Hare, Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Arlone Courtney, Onawa, Iowa; and two brothers, C.G. Ingle, Chicasha, Okla., and C.W. Ingle, Hobart, Okla; also a number of nieces and nephews.
