SERVICES HELD FOR 91-YEAR-OLD MRS. LOFTIS

Mary Olive Loftis was born October 25, 1889 on a farm near Herman, Nebraska to Caleb and Mary Elizabeth Loftis.

She attended the New England School.

In 1907, she moved with her father and younger sister to Blair, Nebraska. For the next 10 years she kept house for her father.

In 1917 Olive moved to Boise, Idaho, where for several years she was employed as a domestic.

Upon her return to Nebraska, she continued this employment in homes in Omaha until her retirement.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church for many years and was currently a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Omaha.

In 1974 Olive entered the Crowell Memorial Home in Blair and resided there until the time of her death.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Minnie Anthony of the Crowell Home, and many nephews and nieces.

Preceding her in death besides her father and mother were 6 brothers, John, George, Frank, Bert, Charles and Ray; 3 sisters, Mrs. Nancy McConnaha, Mrs. Edith Larson and Lizzie Loftis.

Services were held at the Blair United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 1981, with burial in the Blair Cemetery.

Church services were conducted by her grand nephew, Rev. Marlon Loftis. Music was provided by Bette Kirk at the organ, with Mrs. Shirley Schmidt as soloist.
