Will Thompson Dies Tuesday at Court View Hospital

William E. Thompson, a native of Washington County, passed away Tuesday, April 2nd at the Court View Hospital in Blair following an illness of several months’ duration and during which time everything possible was done that loving hearts and willing hands were capable of doing.

Deceased was born December 25, 1875 on the old home farm just south of Blair and there he grew to manhood. He was married to Miss Ada Blankenbeckler on his birth anniversary, December 25, 1914 and to this happy union one son, Edward, and one daughter, Frances Ada, were born, who with the mother are grief stricken at their great loss.

Besides the wife and two children, four brothers, Daniel, Frank and James of Blair and John of Omaha and two sisters, Mrs. Ab Rose, of Blair, and Mrs. U.S. Cornwall of Walthill survive and join with the family in their sorrow.

Funeral services are being held this (Thursday) afternoon

From the Methodist church of which he was a member of the official board, with Rev. D. A. McCullough, pastor, officiating and interment is to be made in the Blair cemetery.

Thus another member of the early settlers has been called to rest having lived a life of usefulness marked with upright dealings toward his fellow man and leaving a memory in the hearts of those who knew him that will always be an uplift.

Will Thompson Died Tuesday

Well-Known Blair Farmer, 59, Will Be Buried This Afternoon

Will Thompson, well-known farmer of the Ridgeway neighborhood south of Blair died at his farm home Tuesday morning after an illness of four months. He was 59 years of age.

Mr. Thompson was a native of the vicinity in which he died. Born December 25, 1875, south of Blair, he attended the rural schools there, and after completing his education took up farming as his life’s occupation.

Was Married in 1914

Before his marriage he lived with his brother, Dan Thompson, on the latter’s farm. On Christmas day, 1914, he was united in marriage to Miss Ada Blankenbeckler at Omaha, and the couple moved to a farm of their own. He had long been a prominent member of the local Methodist Church and of the I.O.O.F. lodge.

Mr. Thompson became ill last December 6, and was rushed to an Omaha hospital, where he remained for over three months. He was returned to his home only recently, but failed to show improvement.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Edward, a daughter, Frances; four brothers, Dan, Frank and James of near Blair, and John of Omaha; and three sisters, Mrs. Ab Rose, Blair, Mrs. U.S. Cornwell of Walthill, and Mrs. Henry Leach of California. Another sister, Mrs. Frank Brooks, died several years ago, and a fifth sister, Esther, died in infancy.

Funeral services are being conducted this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Blair Methodist church, with Rev. D.A. McCullough in charge. Interment will be in the Blair cemetery.
