Mrs. Elmer Thone, Sr. Died Sunday, Funeral Tuesday

Mrs. Elmer Thone, 65 years of age, of Herman, died Sunday at the McBride Nursing Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 o’clock at the Campbell Mortuary, the Rev. Dan Petersen officiating with interment in Blair Cemetery.

Mrs. Thone is survived by her husband, Elmer Thone Sr; a daughter, Mrs. Ila Widger of Wauneta, Nebr.; two sons, Dr. James Thone of Blair and Elmer Thone, Jr., of Herman; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Wachter of Herman, and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Thone was born Jan. 17, 1894 in Herman.

Services for Mrs. Elmer Thone, Sr. Held Tuesday

Mrs. Elmer Thone, Sr., 65 years of age, of Herman, died Sunday at the McBride Nursing Home in Blair. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 o’clock at the Campbell Mortuary. Rev. Dan Petersen officiated, with interment in the Blair Cemetery.

Mrs. Thone was born January 17, 1894 as Edna Mathews, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Mathews of Herman. Our sympathy goes to Elmer Thone, Sr., who survives his wife. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ila Widger of Wauneta, Nebraska, two sons: Dr. James

Thone of Blair and Elmer Thone, Jr. of Herman, a sister, Mrs. Ethel Wachter, of Herman, and five grandchildren. A brother, Harry, of San Jose, California, preceded her in death.

A farm near Herman has been her home since marriage. She attended the University of Nebraska and Kearney State Teachers College, and taught at the Thone and Hill Creek schools, She also taught the 7th and 8th grades in the Herman Public Schools.

Her interests included the Eastern Star and she was an active member of the Baptist Church.

Pallbearers were Merle Ward, John Jackson, Howard Kubie, Clark Davis, Ted Iverson and Harold Magill.
