EEARLY RESIDENT PASSES

Mrs. Mads Mortensen passed away last Tuesday morning at her home at 6125 North 24th street, Omaha, Neb., at the age of seventy eight years. Her husband preceded her several years ago.

Mrs. and Mrs. Mortensen came to Washington county about sixty years ago. They settled on a farm in Calhoun township in the Garryowen school district and continued to make this their home until about fifteen years ago when they retired from the farm and moved to Omaha to enjoy the eventide of life in ease and comfort.

The family was well known in this community as they were always ready to assume their public obligations and were active in social and church work so that their friends were not confined to their immediate neighborhood, but were of a wide circle.

Four daughters are left to grieve the death of the mother: Mrs. Mabel Bauman and Miss Lena Mortensen, both of Omaha, Mrs. Mary Steyer of near Florence and Mrs. Martha Slader of Calhoun township. Twelve grandchildren also grieve the departed.

The funeral services are to be held this Thursday afternoon at four o’clock and interment will be made in Prospect Hill cemetery.
