After a general breakdown, due to a complication of ailments and infirmities of age, John Hinrichsen, Sr., passed peacefully away at his home here Tuesday morning, April 27.

He was born in Thryo, Schleswig, Sept. 23, 1843, and came to America in 1863, locating at Davenport, Iowa. From there he came, in 1884, to Ft. Calhoun, purchasing the farm now owned by his son-in-law, Carl Rohwer. He remained on the farm until 1901, when he removed to Calhoun where, with the exception of two years’ residence in South Omaha, he has since made his home.

Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters and four sons: Mrs. Carl Rohwer, of Ft. Calhoun; Mrs. John Moeller, of Perkins County, Nebr.; Henry, of Ft. Calhoun; William, of Plattsmouth Nebr.; John, of Ft. Calhoun, and Louis, of Lusk, Wyo.

Mr. Hinrichsen was a man of sterling worth, highest integrity, and held in high respect by all who knew him. He served two terms as mayor of Ft. Calhoun, in 1904 and was elected to the same position a year ago, his term to have expired May 1st this year.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, but whether from the church or the residence has not yet been decided.
