Henry E. Janulewicz, 87

Greatest joy was grandchildren, great-grandchildren

Henry Janulewicz, 87, of Blair, formerly of Loup City, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011, at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church with a Vigil Service to be held at 7 p.m. at the church.

Henry E. Janulewicz was born Dec. 10, 1923, near Arcadia to Joe and Clara A. (Eurek) Janulewicz. He grew up on a farm near Arcadia and graduated from Arcadia High School.

He married Emily Schachta on May 5, 1947, and the couple had two children. They lived on a farm near Loup City. She died May 27, 1981. On October 2, 1982, he married Jean (Lewandowski) Janulewicz, who had three daughters. They lived on a farm near Loup City until moving to Blair in 2006. She died on January 1, 2011.

Mr. Janulewicz loved farming, fishing and traveling. He also loved playing cards and visiting with friends. His greatest joy was spending time and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair and Knights of Columbus. Throughout his lifetime he volunteered on various community boards including the Loup City School Board.

He is survived by his son Gary of Greeley, Colo.; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Randy Zeleski of Lexington; step-daughters, Alice Kunes of Bellevue, Janette McLaughlin of Omaha, and Karen and husband John Grinberg of Blair; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Riskowski of Omaha, Betty Czarnek of Houston, Texas; Mary Spotanski of Ravenna; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Emily and Jean; brother, Tom and stepson-in-law, David Kunes.

Memorials are suggested to the Janulewicz family or donor's choice. Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City is in charge of arrangements.
