Larry Lloyd Hennig, 66, of Decatur, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at the Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa, following a lengthy fight with cancer.

A graveside funeral service with Masonic rites was held on Sept. 14, at the Tekamah Cemetery in Tekamah. The Rev. Steven P. Eggum officiated.

Larry Lloyd Hennig was born on Feb. 3, 1934, in Omaha to Lloyd M. and Ella (McDonald) Hennig. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1951.

On July 1, 1956, he married Ardeth Wedgewood at the First Baptist Church in Tekamah.

The couple briefly lived in Hawthorne, Calif., and returned to Nebraska, living most of their lives on a farm located on Highway between Tekamah and Decatur.

After moving into Decatur in 1982, Mr. Hennig was employed by P&W until his retirement in 1997.

He was a member of the Tekamah Masonic Lodge. He served in the U.S. Army in 1954 and 1955.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Greg Stutzman of Missoula, Mont. and Susie and Trey Neemann of Phoenix, Ariz.; his mother, Ella Hennig of Whiting, Iowa; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, a sister and brother-in-law, Theola and Ronald Sherod of Lincoln, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardeth; his father, Lloyd; and a sister, Laura Pultz.

Memorials are suggested to Pleasant View Care Center.

Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah was in charge of arrangements.
