Myrtle I. Hennings, 95, passed away Thursday, July 16, 1987 at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, Nebraska.

Myrtle Iona Hennings, daughter of Gust and Sophia Anderson was born February 14, 1892, on a farm east of Stromsburg, Ne., in Polk County. She attended Liberty School and graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1910. Following graduation she taught in the rural Polk County schools.

On September 4, 1912 she was united in marriage to Clyde W. Hennings. They farmed east of Stromsburg until moving to Fort Calhoun, Ne., in February 1975, to live with their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Howell W. Cox. Myrtle moved to Crowell Memorial Home in 1983 where she participated in all activities until recent months.

She was a charter member of Greens Chapel Methodist Church. When it merged with the Stromsburg Methodist church, she transferred her membership there. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women for over 70 years.

After moving to Fort Calhoun she attended the United Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of the quilting group until her eyesight began to fail.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, an infant son, Oliver Grae, her parents, three brothers, five sisters, and her son-in-law.

Survivors include one daughter, Beverly J. Cox, Ft. Calhoun, and two sons and their wives, Col. (Ret.) M. Don and Bette Hennings of Georgetown, Texas, and Virgil C. and Jean Hennings of Hawthorne, Ca. Six grandchildren and their spouses, nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Services were held Monday, July 20, at the Stromsburg Methodist Church. Rev. Lester Anderson and Rev. Charles Bailey conducted the service with interment at the Stromsburg Cemetery.

A prayer service at the mortuary in Fort Calhoun was held Sunday at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Adell in charge.

Pallbearers were Burdette Berck, Curtis W. Cox, Maj. Greg Hennings, Terry Randell, Christopher P. Schwartz, Ens. Elizabeth Schwartz and Guenther Schwartz.

Honorary pallbearers were Britt Hennings, James Hennings and Jon Hennings.

Vocal music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Bryon Torell and Mr. and Mrs. Quinten Torell. Organist was Mrs. Lester Anderson.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
