Helen (Johnson) Juul died September 12, 2016, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Community. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Community Chapel in Blair at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 16, 2016, at First Lutheran Church in Blair with family receiving friends from 6-8 PM.

Helen Ethel Johnson Juul was born on February 3, 1924, on a farm near Kennard, Nebraska to Johnny Ben and Ethel Johnson. She grew up in Kennard and graduated from Kennard High School in 1941. After graduating, she moved to Omaha and worked at Union Pacific until she was married to the love of her life, Jim Juul, on December 15, 1945. They lived in Blair and Omaha for a short time and then returned to the family farm north of Blair where they spent their lives.

After her daughters left for college, Helen started working in the food service at Blair High School. She would help prepare the food and then serve lunch to the children at West School. She loved being the "Lunch Teacher," as the kids called her. Jim and Helen celebrated 68 years of marriage before Jim died on December 18, 2013. Anyone who met them knew without a doubt, that they adored each other and their marriage was a testament of true love.

After his death, Helen moved to Assisted Living at Shepherd's Village in Blair. Helen loved spending time with her friends, listening to music, dancing and looking at family pictures. The family often heard comments about her blue eyes, her bright smile and her contagious laugh.

She is survived by her daughters, Jeannie Juul of Omaha and Barbara (Ron)Lau of Omaha; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Karyn Lomax (Jimmy), Sienna and Dreyson; Scott Lau (Katherine), Regan and Sawyer; Mark Lau (Alice) and Sofia; brother Glenn Johnson (Faye); several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell (Doriece) and Robert (Betty) Johnson; two nieces, Renee Johnson Morgan and Denise Johnson Rast; and one nephew, Donnie Johnson.
