Amy Herman, 17, of Blair, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, in an automobile accident south of Blair.

Services were Wednesday, Feb. 17, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.

Burial was in Blair Cemetery.

Amy was a senior at Blair High School. A member of the national honor society, Amy was selected for the rotary student of the month.

She spent four years in the high school choir and three years in the Girls’ Ensemble, “Sophisticated Ladies.”

She was secretary of her speech team after two years of participation and also participated in drama club for four years, during which time she advanced from drama club officer her junior year to drama club president her senior year.

A talented performer, Amy received an Outstanding Actress Award for a one-act play.

She performed in numerous plays and musicals and was well-known for her role as “Buttercup” in the Blair Community Theater’s production of “H.M.S. Pinafore” when she was in the eighth grade.

She was in the process of directing her high school musical “The Wiz.”

Amy played summer softball; and she was a student manager for the girls’ soccer team her freshman and sophomore years, earning a letter.

She also taught Sunday School at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Jerri and Curt Pederson of Blair; father and stepmother, Pat and Vicky Herman of Blair; brothers and sisters, Rachel Herman, Ryan Herman, Katelyn Pederson, Michaela Herman and Charissa Baker; grandparents, Charles and Helen Herman of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Robert (Red) and Myra Jensen of Blair; great-grandmother, Dorothy Olsen of Carter Lake, Iowa; great-grandparents, Lyle and Charlotte Eble of South Sioux City and godparents, Bill Herman and Kristine Richt.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
