Funeral services were Wednesday, December 27 at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont for Matilda “Tillie” Hespen, 91 of Fremont who died December 24, 1989 at the Skilled Care Center in Fremont. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Matilda Hespen was born April 28, 1898 at Coleridge Nebraska to John and Marie Janssen. She lived in Coleridge until her marriage to Ben. J. Hespen on October 24, 1917 in Coleridge.

They farmed north of Fremont until 1950 when they moved into Fremont. She had moved into the Skilled Care Center a few days prior to her death.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont, her church circle and the Evangelical Lutheran Church Women. She was also a member of the Bellevue Extension Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, who died February 20, 1989.

She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn (Mrs. Wes) Jensen, Sidney, Nebraska; and Dolores (Mrs. Delwin) Trumbo, Blair; sons, Dale and Richard of Fremont; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the church.
