L. Fred Hetrick, 73, of route 1, Nickerson, died Friday at his home.

He was born April 29, 1913, on the family farm near Arlington.

Hetrick was married March 24, 1940, at Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle to Mary Ann Timm.

Following their marriage, they lived a couple of years on an acreage near Fremont. Since then, they have lived in the Fontanelle area where he was a farmer.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle; the Nickerson Volunteer Fire Department, the Nickerson Lion’s Club, the Fremont Eagle Aerie 200 and had been a 4-H club leader for 35 years.

Survivors include his wife Mary Ann; three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Crawford of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; Mrs. Bonnie Hansen of Fremont and Mrs. Michael (Pat) Byers of Nickerson; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; a brother, William Hetrick of Omaha, and 2 sisters, Florence Medhus of Paullina, Iowa and Marie Nielsen of Omaha.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Monday, March 2, 1987, at Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle, with Rev. C. VanderStope officiated.

He was assisted by J. R. Patterson of the Church of Christ, Fremont.

Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle.

Lawrence Frederick Hetrick was born at Arlington, NE., on April 29, 1913. He was called from this life on Friday, February 27, 1987.

Fred, as he was known by his many friends and acquaintances, was a farmer all his life.

On March 24, 1940, he married Mary Ann Timm. She, along with three daughters: Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Crawford of Grand Rapids, Minn., ; Mrs. Bonnie Hansen of Fremont and Mrs. Mike (Pat) Byers of Nickerson, survive.

Fred is also survived by on brother, William, of Omaha and two sisters: Florence Madhus of Paulina, Iowa and Marie Nielsen of Omaha. Fred has 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A host of friends and neighbors also mourn his passing.

Fred was a member of the Nickerson Lion’s Club, and had served as its President; he was a member of Nickerson Volunteer Fire Department, the Fremont Eagles Aerie No. 200 and both he and Mary Ann service and assisted in 4-H for 35 years as leaders.

We pray for our Lord’s Blessing as we mourn his death and that He may be a comfort to all of us.
