Ronald B. Hiatt, 76, of Blair, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, in Blair.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Jan. 7, 2009, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. His cremains will be distributed privately. There is no visitation.

Ronald B. Hiatt was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Sidney, Iowa, to John Bly and Delia May (Greenlee) Hiatt. He was the youngest of three children.

He entered the Glenwood (Iowa) State School on March 21, 1936, and received his education there. He remained a resident there until he moved to Fremont in 1960.

In Fremont, he received services from ENCOR. He attended the Day Service Center, where he worked in the wood shop. While in Fremont, he also worked at Valmont, Loziers Corporation and L&L Lumber. He lived independently until he retired in 1992, and moved to Crowell Memorial Home in Blair due to health reasons.

Mr. Hiatt was a “Big Red” fan and enjoyed the games on TV. He also loved Western movies and country and western music. His favorite performers were John Wayne and Johnny Cash.

He is survived by a brother, Daniel, of Fremont; as well as friends, co-workers and caregivers.

He was preceded in death by an uncle, Gradon Hiatt.

Memorials are suggested to the Fremont Special Olympics.
