FARMER, 35, IS SUICIDE VICTIM; RICHARD HIBBARD HANGS HIMSELF ON FARM NEAR SOUTH COUNTY LINE

Richard Hibbard, 35, farmer working on the Norman Dein farm southeast of Arlington, just across the Washington County line, was found dead Friday morning, victim of hanging.

Victim of a nervous breakdown, Hibbard had been living with Mr. Dein, his brother-in-law. Mrs. Hibbard resides in Omaha.

When he did not appear for breakfast at 7:30 Friday morning, after having been up since 4, Mr. Dein began a search for him. He found him hanging from a tree behind the barn.

He immediately summoned help from the Chester Jungbluth farm, where a crew of neighbors were threshing. The Douglas County coroner pronounced the death a suicide, and the body was taken to Omaha.

COMMITS SUICIDE

Richard Hibbard, age 35 years, committed suicide on Friday morning by hanging himself at the farm home of Norman Dein, who lives on what is known as the old Grau farm southeast of here near Elk City and just across the Washington county line. Mr. Hibbard, who has been making his home with the Deins, and who is a brother-in-law of Mr. Dein, had been suffering from a nervous breakdown and had been quite despondent. According to reports Hibbard left the house about four o’clock on Friday morning and when he did not appear at breakfast at seven thirty, Mr. Dein began a search for him and found him hanging from a tree behind the barn. He immediately summoned help from the Chester Jungbluth farm where a crew of neighbors were threshing. Also word was sent to the Douglas county coroner who pronounced the death a suicide, and the body was taken to Omaha. Mr. Hibbard was married, and his wife has been living in Omaha while he had been staying at the Dein home. There are no children.
