KENNARD - - Darlene K. Lauritsen, 62, of Kennard, died of cancer Wednesday, Jan. 24, 1990, at the Blair Hospital in Blair. She was a business manager.

Darlene Dimig was born July 26, 1927, in Woita, Iowa. She grew up in the Woita-Atlantic, Iowa area and graduated from Woita High School in Woita. She moved to Omaha at age 17.

She was a member of many civic groups and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Arlington; Blair Federated Woman’s Club; and was a past member of Arlington school board.

She married Byron Lauritsen Jan. 18, 1951 in Omaha. They moved to Kennard in 1953. She was manager of the Lauritsen Grain and Storage in Arlington. He survives.

Other survivors include a son, Dan Lauritsen of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Diane Lauritsen of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; a brother, John of Woodbine, Md.; four sisters, Marguerite Leonard of Omaha; Mrs. Cecil (Marian) Pelzer of Greeley, Colo.; Joan Franko of Citrus Heights, Calif.; and Carol Wilson of Kirkland, Wash.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Arlington Community Church in Arlington. The Rev. Robert Saunders will officiate. Visitation will be noon to 9 p.m. Friday and 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington. Burial will be in the Kennard Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services were Saturday, January 27 at the Arlington Community Church in Arlington for Darlene K. Lauritsen, 62 of Kennard who died of cancer January 24, 1990 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Rev. Robert Saunders officiated. Burial was in the Kennard Cemetery under the direction of Rev. Tompsett.

Darlene Dimig was born July 26, 1927 in Wiota, Iowa. She grew up in the Wiota-Atlantic, Iowa area and graduated from the Wiota High School. She moved to Omaha at the age of 17.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary at Arlington; Blair Federated Woman’s Club; was a past member of the Arlington School Board ; and was active in many other civic organizations.

She married Byron Lauritsen January 18, 1951 at Omaha. They moved to Kennard in 1953. She was manager of the Lauritsen Grain and Storage in Arlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and May Caspari Dimig.

She is survived by her husband, Byron; a son, Dan Lauritsen of Scottsdale, Arizona; a daughter, Diane (Mrs. Martin Schulken III) Lauritsen of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; a brother, John Dimig of Woodbine, Maryland; and sisters, Marguerite Leonard of Omaha; Marian (Mrs. Cecil) Pelzer of Greeley, Colorado; Joan Franks of Citrus Heights, California; and Carol Wilson of Kirkland, Washington.

Pallbearers were Rupert Hilgenkamp, Robert Fuchs, Merle Andersen, Virgil Wrich, Joe Dimig and Lonnie Tourek. Janne Hansen was flutist. Ruby House was organist.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for the services.
