JOHANN L. LAURITSEN, 83 (veteran)

Kennard native Johann L. Lauritsen, 83, of Kansas City, Mo., died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at his home. Funeral services were Saturday, April 20, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Timothy Gierke officiating. Interment was in the Kennard Cemetery. Military graveside services were conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of V.F.W. Post No. 854 and American Legion Post No. 20.

Johann L. Lauritsen was born Aug. 17, 1918 in Kennard to Louie and Amanda (Vogt) Lauritsen. He grew up in rural Kennard.

On Sept. 21. 1940, he married Gladys Voss in Seward. The couple divorced in 1971.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II from May 28, 1945 to Aug. 20, 1946. He lived in rural Kennard and was a beekeeper until moving to Texas in 1965. He was the owner and operator of a night club in Mission, Texas. He retired and moved to Fremont in August, 1997, and has been residing in Kansas City for the past two years.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Susan Lauritsen of Anaconda, Mont.; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Joyce and Tom Williams of Spokane, Wash.; Gladys Hurt; Sylvia Lauritsen; Nancy Schank and Jeanette and Richard Crouch, all of Fremont; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Alma Lauritsen of Santa Barbara, Calif.; George and Anita Lauritsen, Herman and Jackie Lauritsen, all of Blair; and Leonard and Doris Lauritsen of Arlington; sister, Rena lange of Victorville, Calif.; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and special friend, Margaret Davis of Kansas City, Mo.

He was preceded in death by two infant sons.

Memorials are suggested to the Kennard Cemetery, or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont.
