GLADYS V. LAURITSEN, 84

Blair native Gladys V. Lauritsen, 84, of Fremont, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Nye Pointe Health & Rehab Center in Fremont.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 11 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont, with the Rev. Timothy J. Gierke officiating. Interment will be in the Kennard Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the church on Wednesday, one hour prior to services.

Gladys V. Lauritsen was born Sept. 9, 1918 in Blair to Charles and Anna (Wiese) Voss. She grew up in Blair and, after her marriage, moved to Kennard. In 1961, she moved to Fremont.

Mrs. Lauritsen worked at the former Campbell’s Soup Company in Fremont for three years, and then was a cook at Al’s Café in Fremont for 23 years. She retired in 1986.

On Sept. 21, 1940, she married Johann L. Lauritsen in Seward. He preceded her in death in 2002.

Mrs. Lauritsen was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont and the American Legion Post No. 366 of Kennard.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Susan Lauritsen of Anaconda, Mont.; five daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Tom Williams of Spokane, Wash.; Gladys Hurt, Sylvia Lauritsen, Nancy Schank and Jeanette and Richard Crouch, all of Fremont; sister, Louise Voss of Blair; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Johann, she was preceded in death by two infant sons; two brothers, Elmer and LeRoy Voss; a son-in-law and one daughter-in-law.

Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Fremont, or the Kennard Cemetery.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
