W.T. MEADOR, 78, BURIED TUESDAY

FORMER COUNTIAN, NATIVE OF KENTUCKY, DIED AT FREMONT SUNDAY

William Taylor Meador, 78, former Washington county farmer in the Herman and Rose Hill vicinities, died early Sunday morning at his home in Fremont following an illness of three years.

Brief services were held at the residence at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dr. Paul Philipp officiating after which services were conducted at Rose Hill Methodist church by the Rev. A.W. Clarke of Herman. Interment followed in Rose Hill cemetery.

Born July 31, 1862, at Louisville, Kentucky, Mr. Meador came to Washington county at the age of 19 years. He was married to Miss Bessie Lamb at Rose Hill October 14, 1885. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Meador farmed in the Rose Hill neighborhood until 1902, when they moved to Herman, where Mr. Meador was engaged in livestock buying and selling. Mr. and Mrs. Meador moved to Fremont 21 years ago.

Surviving Mr. Meador are his wife, Bessie, of Fremont; one son, Howard Meador of Lead, South Dakota; four daughters, Mrs. Earl Burdic of Norfolk, Mrs. L.P. Phipps of Tekamah, Mrs. R.A. Nearhood of Omaha and Mrs. Mattie Harte of Fremont; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A daughter preceded Mr. Meador in death.

FREMONT MAN BURIED TUESDAY AT ROSE HILL

Funeral services were held at Rose Hill church north of Blair at three o’clock Tuesday, September 10, for William Meador, 78 year old Fremont man who died early Sunday morning at his home following a three year illness. Dr. Paul Phillipp officiated at a short service at the home, and Rev. A. W. Clarke of Herman had charge of the church rites. Burial was made in the Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. Meador was born July 21, 1862 at Louisville, Kentucky, coming to Washington county when he was 19 years old. He was married to Bessie Lamb on October 14, 1885 at Rose Hill, their home on a farm until 1902; they then moved to Herman where Mr. Meador was engaged in livestock buying and selling. Nearly 21 years ago they moved to Fremont where Mr. Meador was assessor for the first ward for 15 years. In recent years he had lived in quiet retirement at his home on East 10th street.
