Ted moved to Omaha and worked at Mutual of Omaha until he was drafted into the Navy in September of that year. While in the Navy he came to know the Lord as his Savior and after being discharged in 1947 he attended the Fundamental Bible Institute in Los Angeles, CA. In the years just after his marriage Ted served as pastor in Derby, IA, Burr Oak, KS, and started First Baptist Church in Plattsmouth, NE.

In 1956 he and Glenna moved with their 2 oldest daughters to California where he attended LA Baptist College until 1959 when he began pastoring Grace Baptist Church in Home Gardens, CA., leaving there in 1970. Ted spent 40 years in the ministry before retiring from First Baptist Church in Nebraska City, NE where he pastored for almost 19 years. After retirement Ted and Glenna settled in Omaha where he continued his ministry through supply pulpit for churches in the area and teaching and serving at Grace Baptist Church in Omaha.
