CHARLES E. PARR, 95

Charles E. Parr, 95, of Covington, Ga., died March 9, 2010.

He was born April 11, 1913, in Conyers, Ga., to Noel Guy and Faye (Maddox) Parr.

He was a farmer, member of the Golden Fleece Masonic Lodge, lifetime member of VFW Post 5290, and was a member of the Covington Elks Club.

He was married to Dorothy “Dot” Collard for more than 50 years before her death in 2004.

Mr. Parr served proudly in the United States Air Force, serving in the Pacific during World War II, and in Korea during the Korean War. He retired in 1961 with the rank of senior master sergeant.

He spent many weeks during each year in Arlington since 1974, visiting with his family in Arlington, and he made it a point to come on Memorial Day weekend for the services at the Arlington Cemetery. He was known by many at the Arlington Veterans Club.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Martha Ellen and Lyle Arnold of Covington; daughter-in-law, Leslie Parr of Arlington; sister, Annette Kinsey of Monroe, Ga.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles G. Parr; a brother, Volley Parr; and sisters, Evelyn Davis, Sarah Oldham and Martha Purdy.
