Funeral services for James C. Appleby were held Tuesday afternoon at the Congregational church and were conducted by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Clinton Appleby, of the Church of God. Mr. Appleby was a loyal member of that church. Dr. Jack Cady sang two vocal solos, with Mrs. Alice Newcom as accompanist. Mr. Appleby came to Nebraska in 1859. He was married to Elizabeth Gibbs December 10, 1882, near Elk City. Burial was in the Kennard cemetery. Relatives and friends were present from Blair, Ft. Calhoun, Valley, Bennington, Irvington and… (news clipping does not continue)

Note: Buried in the Kennard Cemetery Blk 1 Lot 5 Sp 5. Find a Grave # 26208320. He was born in 1859 and died October 7, 1945 His children were Clinton Roy Appleby and Harley B. Appleby.
