Badgerow, Isabella “Bella” (McDonald) (Mrs. Martin) 2/15/1900

Printed in the Feb 22, 1900 Blair Courier

Mrs. Martin Badgerow died of dropsy following childbirth, at her home about five miles northwest of this city, on Thursday past. Rev. F.W. Gardner conducted the funeral from the house Sunday afternoon, and a long line of friends followed the remains to the cemetery here where she was laid to rest. She was born in York county, province of Ontario, Canada, where she was married to Martin Badgerow, coming with him to this county six years ago and locating on the farm where she died at the age of 40 years. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn the loss of a wife and mother, and especially sad for the little one to whom she gave birth only four days before her death. The sorrowing ones have all our sympathies in their time of sorrow and may The Great Comforter be near them.

Note: Dropsy: Abnormal swelling of the body or part of the body due to the build-up of clear watery fluid. Edema (swelling), often caused by kidney or heart disease.—Old Disease Names, by Sylvain Cazale, internet
