Ruth L. Puffer, 83, of Herman, died Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, at the Herman Community Church. Interment will be in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Visitation begins at noon Tuesday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Ruth L. Valder was born June 12, 1926, in Tekamah to Ed and Ruth (Chamberlain) Valder. She attended elementary school in Herman and graduated from Herman High School.

On Dec. 21, 1946, she married Linton Puffer. They lived in Blair and then moved to Herman in the 1980s.

Mrs. Puffer taught school at Rose Hill Country School and retired from HunTel. She was a member and past president of the Blair VFW Auxiliary 1251, and a member of the Herman Community Church.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Colleen Puffer of Blair; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Greg Zimmer of Omaha; eight grandchildren; brothers, Darol Valder of Oroville, Calif., and Robert Snyder of California; sisters, Edith Curley of Fremont and sister Margie Walker of Tucson, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her husband Linton and 11 half-brothers and sisters.
