RITES HELD FOR MRS. L. LUND, 83

REV. P.C. JENSEN CONDUCTED SERVICES MONDAY FOR KENNARD WOMAN

Funeral rites for Mrs. Louisa Lund, who died on August 9 just a week before she would have celebrated her 84th birthday, were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, August 14, at the Kennard Lutheran church. The Rev. P.C. Jensen conducted the final service, and Mrs. Robert Plugge, accompanied by Mrs. Irene Jansen, provided music.

Born in the parish of Mykroppe, Sweden, August 16, 1860, Louisa Bjorklund was married in Sweden to Niels Lund on October 29, 1880. Two children were born to the couple before they emigrated to America in 1886.

The Lunds settled at once in Kennard, where Mr. Lund was employed for many years as the Northwestern R.R. section foreman. In 1900, they bought and moved onto a farm a mile north of Kennard, remaining there until Mr. Lund's death on November 24, 1920. Mrs. Lund, until the last year, had lived in her own home in Kennard; more recently, ill health had forced her to reside with her daughters in the Kennard community.

Of the nine children born to Mrs. Lund, seven survive. They are John, on the home farm; Leonard of Lake Charles, La.; Carl of Salina, Kans.; Elmer, Mrs. Hilda Gehrk and Mrs. Ellen Jensen of Kennard; Mrs. Esther Glover of Long Beach, Calif.; preceding her in death were a son, Victor, and a daughter, Anna. Nine grandchildren also remain.

Bendorf Funeral Home had charge of the funeral arrangements.
