Grace A (nee Lowe) Mead

Blair, Neb, May 29—Mrs. Grace Mead, wife of Guy Mead, died yesterday after an illness of nearly a year.

#2-29 May, 1902 - Blair Courier - Grace (Lowe) Mead

After an illness of over a year, death quietly came to the relief of Mrs. Guy Mead at 10:30 yesterday morning. She had been unable to eat anything for the past eighteen days and the end was only a question of time. The hour for the funeral has been set at 4 ofclock on Friday afternoon in the Catholic church, and will be conducted by Father Geary of Omaha, Father Brophy being sick and unable to come. Miss Gracie Lowe was a daughter of Mrs. W. D. Haller and was born in Omaha in 1873. She was married to Guy Mead about ten years ago and four children have been born to them, the one son having died in infancy. About six months ago she gave birth to a daughter and her serious illness dates from that time. It was soon discovered that she was a victim of the dreaded consumption and everything known to the medical profession was done for her but to no avail. Last December she was taken up to Epiphany, S.D. for treatment by Father Kroeger and she seemed to improve but it was only temporary. For several days she has realized her condition and on Tuesday she bade them all goodbye. Her sight had already failed and some time after this she was unable to articulate clearly, but was conscious up the the hour that death came to claim her for his own.
