Funeral Services Held for Mrs. J.C. (Anna) Blackburn

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Congregational Church in Arlington at 2:00 PM for Mrs. J.C. (Anna) Blackburn, 76, a long time Washington County resident, who passed away Friday evening at the Dodge County Hospital. Mrs. Blackburn had been ill for the last two months. The former Anna Miller was born October 2, 1884 in Denmark. She came to the United States in 1889 with her parents and the family settled in Blair. She has spent the rest of her life in Washington County.

In 1905, she was married to the late Jav C. Blackburn. They operated a repair shop here for about twenty years then operated the Green Lantern Café from 1927 to 1941. Mrs. Blackburn operated the Arlington Gift Shop from 1947 after the death of her husband until her illness caused her to close her shop.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Russel R. (Evelyn) Gibson of Lincoln, two grandchildren, Ronald Gibson of Lincoln and Robert Gibson of Chicago, Illinois; a brother Lou Miller of Oregon, and a sister, Mrs. Harold (Marie) Coutts of Omaha. A son, Joe, preceded her in death. A brother, George Miller passed away in California just recently.

Burial was in the Arlington Cemetery. Rev. Robert Krause officiated. Mrs. Jack Cady was soloist with Mrs. Charles House accompanying at the organ. The casket bearers were Chet G. Marshall, Vernon Marshall, Glenn Masters, Vernon Wager, Farnum Franzenburg, and A.A. Hahlbeck.

Reckmeyer and Son Funeral Home was in charge.
