LESTER LOGEMANN, 79 - - 5/17/17 - 4/4/97

Lester B. Logemann, 79, died Friday, April 4, 1997 at Elkhorn Manor in Elkhorn.

He was born May 17, 1917 on the home place south of Bennington to Wilhelm and Elsie (Petersen) Logemann. He was baptized on Aug. 31, 1919 and was confirmed on March 20, 1932 at Zion Lutheran Church. He received his education in a rural school in Douglas County through the eighth grade.

He was one of the first farmers to make terraces on his farm in Douglas County. On Feb. 16, 1941, he married Dorothy Sorensen. After farming for 38 years, he retired and they moved to Bennington. He had suffered from Parkinson’s Disease for over 11 years after having heart surgery in October of 1985.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington. He served on the Church Council, was on the ASC Committee and was a Lion’s Club member.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Bennington; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Carol of Decautr, Ill.; and Darrell and CoeLeta of Bennington; three granddaughters and their spouses, Kristi and Darwin Reiswig; Jacqueline and Jeff Stork; and Juli Logemann; one great-grandson, Justin Stork; one brother, Russell and a sister, Lorene Andersen.

Memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Bennington Rescue Squad.
